Beau-Regards Beverages

Title

Beau-Regards Beverages

Subject

Soft Drinks
Foodways

Description

The name "Beau-Regards" may be in reference to a descendant of P.G.T. Beauregard, a Civil War Confederate general, as it is a “grand old name of the South,” but there are no results for a person named “Geo Beauregard.” A single newspaper advertisement in the Marietta Journal in 1944 shows that Beau-Regards was bottled by the Dixie Rush Bottling Co., Inc. at 1245 Glenwood Ave SE, in grape and orange flavors. However, this does not indicate where the brand originated. The Owens-Illinois mark indicates 1948 manufacture at the Streator, IL plant.
