American Ginger Ale
Title
American Ginger Ale
Subject
Soft Drinks
Foodways
Description
A clear bottle in a tall, thin shape common for ginger ale. It has many large bubbles in the glass and a seam around the front embossing. Front embossing: “AMERICAN // GINGER ALE // & // CARBONATING CO. // ATLANTA GA” Around base: “THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD _ I.G. Co:511”
This bottle was made by the Illinois Glass Company with mold no. 511, which can be found in a 1906 catalog with close resemblance. The American Ginger Ale & Carbonating Co. was located at 96 S Forsyth in Atlanta according to a 1904 city directory. This is the only directory that has it listed, so the company was presumably short-lived.
