Description

Brown Boy Bottling Co. was the first black-owned soda bottling company in the country, they produced a soda of the same name. It was co-owned by C. E. Prothro Jr (business manager of Morris Brown College) and Jesse B. Blayton (radio entrepreneur and businessman). Brown Boy was sold in Atlanta, but the bottles were produced in Jackson, Mississippi by the Knox Glass Co. as identified by the "J in a keystone" mark on the bottom of the bottle.
