<text>Phillips Milk of Magnesia is actually still in production under the same name. Unlike a lot of medicines of this period, it actually does have scientifically proven uses as a laxative and antacid. It was originally produced by an Englishman, Charles Henry Phillips in Stamford, Connecticut, and is essentially just a mix of magnesia hydrate and water.
The most common, "iconic" bottle associated with it is colbalt blue, reflected in the modern product's color as well, but ours is aqua.
On the bottom of the front, it says it was patented Aug. 21 1886. Interesting, the Society for Historical Archeology, which wrote a comprehensive report on the variations of Phillips bottles, does not list this specific variant with the 1886 patent. However, the design matches bottles produced 1900-1906. It was also sold in tablet form, in smaller bottles.
