<text>The brand "Hi-Nuf" is nowhere to be found on the internet.

A search for the "Atlanta Bottling Company" yields two possible companies, the Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company and the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, which according to a 1967 lawsuit was a trade name of "Atlanta Bottling Company."
A 1972 job posting in the Atlanta Journal for an Atlanta Bottling Company was located at 3665 OLD JONESBORO RD., S. W. which according to according to a 1966 manufacturing directory is the location of the Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. They were involved in a few lawsuits in the 60s-70s so it seems that was when that company was active.
The Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company was established in 1902 and is still active to this day. However, they were very rarely referred to without the "Coca-Cola." on advertising.

This bottle looks much older than the 60s-70s, if it were to be the product of the Dr. Pepper option. The unique shape somewhat resembles the Pay-Day bottle from around the 1920s. By the 60s-70s sodas usually used ACL (painted) labels over embossed bottles.

Hi-Nuf and the Atlanta Bottling Co. is a mystery, for now.</text>

<text>Ironstone is characterized by a white, vitreous or semi-vitrified paste with a clear, glass-like glaze. The temperature at which it is fired is variable but is likely between that of stoneware and porcelain (between 1200-over 1300°C). Ceramics of this type generally have thicker bodies that are not translucent, distinguishable from porcelain, though they are often confused. Ironstone is generally utilitarian and can be found in a variety of areas, both rural and urban. Ironstone is sometimes known as “Stone China”, particularly referencing ceramics of this type produced after 1830, but not in all cases. Prior to the 1830s, ironstone was often heavily decorated with a blue-tinted glaze; this declined in popularity after the 1850s (Miller 1991:9-10). Between the 1850s and early 1900s, a “white granite paste” was more commonly seen; this consisted of a hard paste with some variation in “graininess”, sometimes appearing like stone and otherwise appearing like a grainy stoneware (Miller 1991:10). This often depends on the vitreosity of the paste and inclusions or chemicals added during the firing process.

In some collections, ironstone can be broken down into more categories, including hotel-ware or industrial-ware. These distinctions are difficult to differentiate from one another and share a multitude of similar qualities. Hotel-ware can then be broken down into three categories based on thickness: 7.9-9.5mm (armed forces and lunch counters), 3.9-6.4mm (hotels and restaurants), and under 6.4mm (home use wares). While this distinction is not necessarily relevant to this collection, it is potentially relevant to others.</text>

<text>This is a very odd item in the collection, as we were able to identify it as Japanese due to the style of paint and enameling. Specifically, it is a "satsuma moriage" vase. Satsuma refers to the region the type of pottery originated in, and moriage is the term for the raised enamel decoration style.
Its small size, low quality, and the fact it was found in Atlanta indicates that it was most likely a souvenir or an export from the 20th century. We were able to find a near-identical intact vase listed on ebay. It is difficult to date the vase since it has no markings. Antique forums indicated that similar small, crudely-painted vases were likely from the 1930s-40s, the interwar period. User "Ce BCA" on antiquers.com noted about a similarly painted vase, "Very unlikely to be by a noted artist nor exhibited in a museum, it is typical of factory produced items when the Japanese economy was in trouble in the inter-war period." "After years of success in construction, lumber, coal mining, and drug businesses, Thomas H. Austin organized the Koca Nola Company in the spring of 1904. The syrup factory and bottling plant was located at 108 Edgewood Avenue.
The earliest ad appeared in the March 15th Atlanta Constitution classifieds with the drink name spelled 'Coca Nola.' The spelling was quickly changed to Koca Nola as the ads began the following claims:
'Koca Nola is the nicest, smoothest, softest, healthiest of all fountain drinks. Try it.'"
According to Mental Floss the brand disappeared entirely in 1918.</text>

Many mold numbers are seen, ranging from “1” to at least “105”, possibly higher. The bottles are nearly always in shades of light aqua or light green."

In a New York Times article, a descendant of Duncan said, “My great-great-grandfather, John Duncan, had a small business in Manhattan principally importing liquors and wine from Europe, and preserves, jams and jellies from England. His firm was known simply as John Duncan and Sons. He learned of this odd sauce that was said to be famous in England in the 1830's and he ordered a small shipment. The imports gained tremendously in a very few years and there were salesmen peddling it all over the country. They traveled by train as far south as Texas. Demand became such that he opened a processing plant using the exact English formula and using English imports.”

This brand of worcestershire sauce still is in production today.</text>

The button has a lined field with a raised border, 13 stars across the top, and an eagle with widespread wings clasping an anchor with its talons and an anchor rope in its beak. The size of this button (28.5 mm / 1 1/8") could have been used by either an officer or an enlisted man. Unfortunately for dating purposes, these button designs remained unchanged for the rest of the 19th and into the 20th century, even though the Marines adopted the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor insignia in 1868. This button could have been made by the Scovill Company of Waterbury CT (now Morito Scovill based in Clarkesville, GA), although Albert (1969) mentions other possible companies as well, based in either Attleboro, MA or Waterbury, CT.</text>
